The Unguarded Workshop
During this two-day immersive experience at the Unguarded Studio in
Akron, Ohio, you'll have the unique opportunity to engage in deep
conversations, refine your skills, and capture powerful images that
authentically reflect the beauty and stories of marginalized
individuals. But there's a catch – we only have six spots available!
Day 1: Connection and Shooting
- 10 am - 12 pm: Engage in meaningful conversations with our models, building trust and understanding their stories.
- 12 pm - 1 pm: Enjoy a lunch break to refuel and recharge.
- 1 pm - 5 pm: Begin shooting sessions with individual time dedicated to each model. Capture their unique essence while our talented makeup artist shares tips and tricks for last-minute options in case of cancellations while you're waiting for your individual model time.
Day 2: Creative Exploration
- 10 am - 12 pm: Delve deeper into connection, empowerment, and the art of storytelling with 2 additional models.
- 12 pm - 1 pm: Enjoy a nourishing lunch break.
- 1-5 While waiting for their individual turn with the models, photographers will learn basic ties from a skilled shibari artist, adding a captivating dimension to their photography.
Day 3 (OPTIONAL): Live Photoshoot and Mentorship
- 10 am - 12 pm: Witness a live photoshoot with Katie and a marginalized body model. Explore the power of connection, posing techniques, and storytelling in real-time.
- Engage in a lively Q&A session, delving into the intricacies of building connections and capturing authentic moments.
- 12 pm - 1 pm: Enjoy a refreshing lunch break.
- 1 pm - 3 pm Dive into marketing, editing, and client connection strategies to elevate your business and refine your skills.
- We'll conclude the day at 3 pm, leaving you inspired, empowered, and equipped with the tools to take your photography to new heights.
As a workshop participant, you'll have the opportunity to submit your
best work for consideration in our inaugural Unguarded art gallery show,
which prominently features the beauty and resilience of marginalized
bodies. Celebrate your achievements and showcase your talent alongside
other passionate photographers in a curated exhibition that challenges
